there's no way i can be the first person to request this one, but come on Tom Atkins.  and by far the best of the sequels.  no known commentary for it either.  perfect for the site.  cheers.

Halloween 3 is awful, not for the lack of Michael Myers but simply because it is utter shite. Halloween 4 The Return of Michael Myers is the best sequel.

Yeah, Halloween III is overrated. If I watch the movie, I have Kim Newman & Stephen Jones' commentary on.

I wanna read Nigel Kneale’s original screenplay. I’ve heard it’s quite different from the finished film. Like, no gore, no Stonehenge, no robots… sounds fantastic!

I'd love to hear the lads tackle this as well, but I don't think It's a great flick either. It's goofy, schlocky fun ---- but it's no Boys in Blue.

In my world none of the sequels or remakes exist.  It's a pretty cool world, you guys should join me.

i'll admit that it's goofy as shit.  there's a lot going on there.  the plot is overly complicated by the kitchen sink mentality.  but you have to admit that tone wise, it's the most carpenter esq. of all the sequels.  when you figure in the amazing score, the more than bizarre murder scenes (i.e. skull crushed through nose, melted laser face, etc), and the performances (dan o'herlihy doing that great turn from lovable to evil in 3 secs flat), it really turns into an effective flick.  plus....do i have to say it again?  alright.  Tom Atkins!

Appreciate that im stomping over sacred gound but i gotta say it...Why the love for Tom Atkins?  Im trying to think of an iconic role, but no, he's just there`, with that traffic cop tache and his freshly salon coiffured barnet.

Great to have you on board and great choice, I love Halloween III in fact it's one of the handful of films I am genuinely a little sad at how well it did crticially and box office wise.

What the real kicker is, afterwards if "Part 3" had have been accepted we could/would have had a different Halloween film under the Halloween banner every year or so, that would have been one of the coolest things ever.

Don't get me wrong some of the sequels have been pretty darn cool, Part 4 is probably one of the best slasher movies I've seen and I really like part 6, H20 and Rob Zombies H2.

Talking of Tom Atkins though can you believe he might be in the new Halloween III, who have thunk it uh!.

I think for me even before I knew who he was, he just seemed to be in the right place at the right time in a film, like in Lethal Weapon just before Mel tries to shoot down an helicopter with a hand gun, or in Escape from New York at a scene you knew was filmed for real in New York.

But once you start to become aware of him, it's like the Chuck Norris fact's he just seems a thousand times cooler, like in The Fog he's drink driving, picks up Jamie Lee Curtis and then as sex with her, and in Halloween III he basically smokes and drinks himself through the whole film while battling robot cyborgs and having sex with women, and sharing booze with some homeless fella.

I think it's the everyman quality, like James Stewart but with a moustache...

you've got that right dave.  i mean look atkins' character in Halloween 3.  he basically forgets about his kid's halloween all so he can go on this wild goose chase with a young beautiful girl (i.e. getting laid). plus he's got the coroner lady all up on his tip.  he's such a ladies man.  drinking, smoking and scaming the ladies.  he's like the frank sinatra of the 80's horror film.  atkins always plays characters that look like they were ridden hard and put away wet.  those things may not even be on the surface, but atkins always plays his characters with much subtext  with actors in most modern action/thriller movies you have these weak armed choir boys.  atkins is a everyday real man...grizzled. completely underrated actor.

Oh my God that is awesome...and right! Too many great quotes:

"Coroner lady all up on his tip"

"the Frank Sinatra of the 80s horror film"

"ridden hard and put away wet"

thanks tom.  i also think guys are pretty great.  Started with Hawk the Slayer and just kept going through the list.  i also run a podcast doing the same type material.  but im not a big enough whore to plug it.  Coughing check the profile for the link cough.  that's right back to atkins.  Dave mentioned the Fog.  perfect example.  He's just cruising around at midnight drinking beers and picking up hitchhikers.  Damn i'm not even sure if he has a job in that movie.  just seems to be a random dude.  immediately picks up Jami Lee and starts macking.  hell the chick doesn't leave his side the rest of the movie. she got trapped in the atkins' web (which totally smells like Lucky Strikes, 12 year old malted scotch, and Old Spice) she's in his bed THAT NIGHT waiting for the Atkins patented mustache ride.  screw $0.50 that thing is worth 50 bucks.  now that's a suave man.  Dean Stockwell was wrong, Tom atkins is one suave fuck!  hell i don't even mind him being an abusive father in Creepshpw.  if you ask me that little annoying bastard needed a bit of the "bitch control".  that's why god invented fathers babe, that's why god invented fathers. now don't get me wrong Phil.  Tim Thomerson has his great moments too.  i think one of my favorite roles for him is as Lester in Cherry 2000.  a crazy over the top self improvement psycho from the future.  that ain't easy to pull off.  it seems to me Thomerson does his best in comedic roles.  and plus i am completely forgiving for the whole "Dollman" debacile.  By the way phil, if i just walk away will you give me safe passage through the wasteland?  just thought i'd ask.  what the hell was i talking about anyway?  oh yeah, you guys should totally do Halloween 3.

There is already two Halloween films covered on here do we really need another? I say no! I love the Halloween series but with two already done on here I would love to see other horror series covered, Childs Play for instance.

Fuck it, i say deathbydvd gets his way just for the "ridden hard and put away wet"  quote. I'll even go as far to hold off on the MM2 Commentary badgering  just for the sheer manliness of his last post.

Jesus tonight!

I thought we'd all agreed that it was American Werewolf in London next ... I distinctly remember the staff meeting, and it was unanimous.

Now lets all put this nonesense to bed once and for all. Besides .. We all know the next Gibbo film should be BIRD ON A WIRE.

The truth? - I spoke to Dave the other day as we were sat parked-car at Lover's Point and he told me the flicks that they're actually doing ..

Ready?

...  its Jan DeBont's remake of THE HAUNTING and and Steve Miner's DAY OF THE DEAD.

Can't wait!

They didn't record a new commentary for The Haunting, they ingeniously took clips of Stu talking about CGI from previous commentaries and looped them for two hours.
